About ECP

ECP has been a parent led cooperative preschool since 1973. We are a non-profit organization affiliated with, and supported by, Edmonds College (EC), the Inter Co-op Council (ICC), and the Organization for Parent Education (OPEP) in the state of Washington. Adult Co-op members are registered with Edmonds College and earn parent education credits.

What is a Coop?

Co-op is a shared learning experience for children and their parents/caregivers. Our goal is to serve, not only as teachers to the children, but as a support system for the parents/caregivers. We aim to collaboratively make our children’s learning experience as positive and enriched as possible.

Curriculum and activities are planned according to the age and abilities of the class. Each class develops its own personality and interests. Our teachers may introduce different activities or limit choices to work best with the personality, interest, and ability of the class. Parents also bring a wide variety of skills to the classroom, used to enrich the curriculum.

About Our Coop Specifically

We are a non-profit organization

Everyone on the board is a volunteer. We are all parents of children in the co-op. Only our teachers and class instructors are paid

Instant community of friends and peers for both children and parents.

High adult-to-child ratios allow for more child-directed learning, more opportunities to interact with each child, and increased supervision.

Children do not need to be potty-trained to attend.

We are under the Edmonds College umbrella of co-ops. This allows each parent/caregiver that is registered and works in the classroom to receive college credits and support from parent educators.

We are member-driven, meaning that you, the parents/caregivers, have a say in how the co-op functions.
